The weekend in June

Hello all!

I haven’t written anything in quite a little while! Which is ok. I’ve been busy with work and some other things in my life! But I wanted to talk about this weekend I had in June. On the first weekend, my family and I drove down south to Cedar City Utah for an event that we participate in every year. We rented a VRBO and went down for the weekend. This VRBO had a fenced in yard and some trees. Of course I took my Shack-In-A-Box down with me. I also took my Flagpole and both my antennas. I did not need my flagpole as the trees were low enough I could just throw the antenna over the limbs. Surprisingly with the antenna the way it was set up, I had little to no issues! I was not heard over voice though, but that’s pretty common with my radio as it’s a low power radio.

Then we fast forward 2 weekends. Its Field Day! Myself and my brother went out with our local Club to a park here in town and set up our equipment! We were on the air from kickoff at noon until about 3:30 pm. While we were there, we were visited by a couple families that were interested in the hobby and myself and the president of the club discussed with them what we were doing, and what the club was. We were also visited by the Sheriff of Tooele County! He even made a contact himself! We ran 3 different radios, mine was doing digital on 20m, One was doing voice on 40m, and the other was suppose to be voice on 20m, but we were struggling with that rig. In total, I made 11 contacts. 9 on FT8 and 2 Voice. Unfortunately, I was the only one who made any contacts. But the club scored a total of 550 points! All on 20W or less of power!

Well, the sums up my weekends in June! It was a blast! I should have a video from Cedar City soon!

Thank you,
